Hi, my name is Genevieve. I do not really have any background in multimedia besides using Canva a few times for school projects. If it counts I also use social media, although I have rarely ever posted. As for what skills I bring into this course I enjoy art projects, usually ones that take a long time, so I have a lot of patience along with good attention to detail. I am also generally a pretty organized person which could prove useful in this course. I think these skills I have could help me patiently learn new skills, along with being able to craft good pieces of multimedia. In all honesty I struggle to understand technology sometimes, but this class sounded really interesting so I’m eager to learn. I would like to be an elementary teacher or counselor one day (although I have not decided which yet). I am currently in my second/third year of studies. I am doing a major in psychology with a minor in education before I do a PDP in education. I’m hoping to gain skills in this course that could help me connect with students one day. I think that with the rise of technology in both schools and everyday life, having the knowledge taught in this course could prove useful for me in the future. Specifically I am eager to learn about how social media can be useful in individualized learning. I think having a good connection between learner and instructor is very important and this could be a way to help support that relationship and help the learner learn in a way better suited to their needs. I also want to know more about personalized learning and how it connects to learning theory. I want to learn about how students learn so I can know a bit more about how to better assist students. In my opinion these are very important things to understand when you work with or around children in an educational environment. I also am curious to learn about how the internet is not a neutral or equal space for everyone. As it is right now, I do not entirely know what that means. I am eager to learn more about it though. I am also curious to know more about how GenAI can be used as a tool to support creative activities. For me the whole idea of working with different types of media and technology in general is daunting because I tend to get confused with technology easily. The idea of having to navigate multiple forms of media is stressful. Although I am excited to learn how to do more things with mixed media. If I struggle with any technical difficulties while trying to navigate new types of media I know I have some people in my life I can ask for help along with emailing the professor. Plus there are always youtube tutorials that I can try watching to gain a better understanding of topics I struggle with.
